This is an acrylic painting that I finished yesterday on a special acrylic paper. It took me three separate sessions to do it. I was going over and over some ares, like the background trees and the water and the reflections in it. I had mixed feelings toward this painting at different stages of its creation, feeling desperate at some point, but really happy when I was able to pull out the effect and the colors that I wanted. Overall, I'm really really happy with the result!
This is the first painting in a series of winter landscape ones. Recently, in an art gallery and store, I bough a used How to Draw and Paint Winter Landscapes book by Mannie Gonsalves, a great oil landscape painter. It shows you few stages of the creation of 30 different paintings that he made with the precise colors that he used. I do not have the same colors and I used acrylics, but I tried my best to reproduce the ones he used.
