I just created this non-sense painting. Today, I felt like I wanted to play with colors and used acrylics for the background. The first layers were really colorful, but I ended up adding a lot of white to make it look like a broken mirror or some pieces of crystal mountain.

In the end, I just added the trees and blades of grass with oil pastels to see if those medias are mixing well. My conclusion: yes and no. It's hard to put the oil pastels on the painting that has already some texture, bit when it came to smear some purple, white and green colors in the crystals themselves, they mix well with the background color.

It's just an exploration piece, not really one of my best.

It's great experiment.Mixing medias have damn interestig and unusual outcoms despite it's risk. This cristal-like conception is very original idea-makes great effect.I've never seen anything similar. It would be nice design for printing on fabric or for stainedglass.Just to do more stilisation of course
Pastal makes damn nice stone effect:love:I did it with dry pastel couple of times but it's kinda unstabile:DI will try oil one next time.Good idea.

I really really like this painting!

Oh, thank you very much. The idea of crystals came even after I started painting it. I just did on the spot whatever I wanted to do with the painting. It's not one of my favorite from me, far from it. But I really like the idea too, so in the future, I might redo it.

Hum yah, happens sometimes too. But your know, when you just paint without expecting nothing in particular, just exploring things, it's a really nice attitude :)

i like the way you drew the montain, layer by layer , it makes the painting look 2-D :)

2D or 3D? The mountain or crystal plates or whatever they are, I'm not even sure if I really wanted to make them 2D or 3D, I was just messing around. I kind of like it too, but I added too much white in the end, hiding under it some nice pink, green, yellow, purple, blue colors. Thank you so much for you comment :)

It's indeed sort of strange, but I think you did fantastic with the trees they look so real

Thank you so much :) Since I discovered how to make the trees with oil pastels in one of my last drawings, they come pretty easy to me. I need to try to reproduce this easiness in my paintings, because I want to do some tree landscapes.
